Community Service

SCEI is committed to developing awareness for special needs children. That is why we are regularly involved in community service programs, such as hosting in-house events and visiting both local and international schools. We also encourage our students to actively participate in all forums that project them as contributing members of society.

CUDDLE Project

CUDDLE (Creating Understanding of Developmental Disabilities Through Live Experiences), is an outreach program for those interested in learning more about the challenges our students face when carrying out everyday tasks. We run the CUDDLE Project as a workshop in mainstream schools. The participants are made to work in small groups and each individual is given a very basic task to carry out with added restraints. For instance, we may blindfold a participant and ask them to complete a task that requires a lot of eye coordination.

We welcome all schools who would like to host CUDDLE workshops and support SCEI’s efforts to promote special education in Pakistan. Please contact us if you are interested in hosting a CUDDLE workshop.

Art for a Cause

At SCEI, we encourage all students to be as creative as they can be. This vision comes to life every year at ‘ART FOR A CAUSE’, our annual art exhibition where we display works created by all the students.

Some students work on solo projects while others team up to combine their skills and produce something unique and beautiful.

For the students, it’s an animating experience, from the process of creating their projects to putting them up for the world to see. They take pride in their work and absolutely love the media attention the exhibition attracts.

Some young (typically developed) students from mainstream schools also collaborate with SCEI and donate some of their paintings to add to the exhibition. They also carry out workshops with SCEI as a form of art therapy.

All the proceeds from “ART FOR A CAUSE” go into running the school.
